Thrive Architect has launched – New & improved Thrive Content Builder!

Thrive Themes just launched their new plugin called Thrive Architect. It is actually a new & improved Thrive Content Builder plugin, the one we used to build over 300 landing page templates on The Landing Factory, just more powerful.

Will the “old” Thrive Content Builder templates work with new Thrive Architect?

Yes!

Templates built with Thrive Content Builder are backward compatible with the new Thrive Architect.

Still, some issues may occur, but both we (The Landing Factory) and Thrive Themes will work hard on discovering any possible bugs and fixing them as soon as humanly possible.

What about new TLF templates?

We’ll jump straight ahead on Thrive Architect and build all future templates with it.

It’s a bit of a learning curve but we are experts and we’ll take the best from it to make even better landing page designs for you.

There were some mentions of content templates being able to be exported (not 100% confirmed), but if that happens we’ll start designing those as well so you can use the best pieces of our designs and incorporate it within your existing landing pages.

Our initial goal, when starting The Landing Factory, was to become the best and largest marketplace for Thrive Content Builder templates. You can say we absolutely succeeded and reached our goal.

Also, our name, The Landing Factory, tells you that we are a place where we design landing pages – not necessarily only for Thrive Content Builder. Let’s just say that we plan to expand and cover some other landing page builders, not just for Thrive. The rest will remain secret for now, but soon we will reveal the whole truth!

How To Do A/B Split Testing With Thrive Content Builder

How to get higher conversion rates? By regularly testing your landing pages. Don’t believe anything or anyone, your business is unique, your landing page is unique and what works for other may not work for you.

Even if you think you know something for sure, challenge yourself and see if doing it the other ways around is really wrong, or might be even better.

If you are using Thrive Content Builder I can almost say for sure that you are using it for at least some kind of marketing purposes.

Maybe you created an opt-in page with it to get more email subscribers, or you designed a beautiful sales page to sell that ebook you’ve been working on for the last couple of months. Whatever you did and no matter how many leads or sales you’ve got I’m sure you can do better.

You’ve guessed it – improve your marketing efforts by split testing your landing pages.

How to do A/B split testing with Thrive Content Builder

Short answer – you can’t. At the moment of writing this article Thrive Content Builder doesn’t have a built-in A/B testing feature, like they do in Thrive Leads for example.

I know a lot of people want that feature badly and I know Thrive Themes is working on it as we speak, hopefully they will include it in Thrive Content Builder 2.0.

Until then, we have to find ourselves another solution, which won’t be bad at all, as you’ll see in a second.

WordPress split testing with Nelio A/B Testing plugin

Nelio A/B Testing is a WordPress plugin specifically made to help you split test any page or post in your WordPress powered blog.

They have a free WordPress plugin (download it by clicking on free trial) which gives you up to 1000 page views to test as a free trial, but if you want more you’ll need to become a paid customer.

I know this will push some of you off, but if Nelio A/B testing is too expensive for you at $29/mo you probably don’t have that many customers or traffic yet and free 1000 page views will be enough. But if you have a real business you will fall in love with Nelio A/B Testing instantly, because it’s so easy to create split tests.

Creating your first split test with Nelio A/B Testing plugin

Tests in Nelio AB plugin are called experiments, so the first thing you want to do is go and Add an experiment.

There are several options to choose from when adding a new experiment, and they are:

  • A/B Test Your Landing Page – Pure A/B Testing from the very beginning! Create one or more alternatives of your landing page and see which one converts better! If your website starts at your Landing Page, why shouldn’t you start it first?
  • New A/B Test for Pages –  Pure A/B Testing! Create one or more alternatives of a page and change whatever you want: the colors, the text, the layout… and do it using your default WordPress editor! Then define the goals and you’re ready!
  • New A/B Test for Posts – Pure A/B Testing! Create one or more alternatives of a post and change whatever you want: the colors, the text, the layout… and do it using your default WordPress editor! Then define the goals and you’re ready!
  • New A/B Test for Headlines – Headline Testing is perfect for Publishers. Try with different Titles, Featured Images, and Excerpts, and check which combination is more appealing. Every time the Headline is printed somewhere in your site, it is counted as a visit. If a visitor accesses the post, you have a conversion!
  • New A/B Theme Test – Would you like to change your WordPress completely? Do you want to test small variations of two child themes? Then this gives you what you need! Just keep in mind to configure each theme individually before using this kind of experiment.
  • New Heatmap Experiment for Pages or (Custom) Posts – If you don’t know how to get started with A/B Testing, run a Heatmap Experiment and discover how your users behave when navigating through your website! This is one of the easiest ways to get ideas on what to do next.
  • New A/B CSS Test – Do you want to change the appearance of your WordPress site, but tweaking only small elements here and there? Then CSS Tests is what you’re looking for. Create one or more CSS fragments that will be applied to your website and discover which one offers the better results.
  • New Custom Post Type Test – Pure A/B Testing! Create one or more alternatives of a custom post type and change whatever you want: the title, the text, the custom fields… and do it using your default WordPress editor! Then define the goals and you’re ready!
  • New Widget Test – Do you want to arrange widgets in a different order, use different widget setups, or even introduce completely new widgets? Then Widget Tests is what you need. Select and arrange the widgets you need as a new alternative and discover which one offers the better results.
  • New Menu Test – Menus are one of the most important elements in your WordPress site, for they get a lot of attention from your visitors. Modify the labels of your menu items, rearrange them, or use a completely different menu and test which one helps you get more conversions!

As you can see there’s basically an experiment option for almost any kind of split test you can think of.

Since we are using Thrive Content Builder here I chose the first option – AB Test Your Landing Page.

This is the first step where you need to name your experiment, add a description to it if you want and select your control page (original page), which is the page that will “fight” with your alternative pages so you can see which one is going to win (perform better).

And here you will choose the alternative landing pages which will compete with your original/control page.

You can add just one alternative or multiple different alternatives. If you don’t have that much traffic go with just one. If you have a lot of traffic go with 2 or more alternatives.

And finally, the last step is defining your goals / conversion actions.

You can add just one goal/conversion, or more of them. I suggest that you use just one if you are doing split tests for your opt-in forms or sales pages. But it really depends on what are you actually testing.

So, you have 4 available conversion actions to choose from, and they are:

  • Page – A visitor access a page in your WordPress site
  • Post – A visitor access a post in your WordPress site
  • External Page – A visitor tries to access an external page (either by clicking a link or by submitting a form) specified using its URL.
  • Click – A visitor clicks on an element in your site (for instance, a button, a link or an image)

Since we are testing landing pages made by Thrive Content Builder you should choose a Page (first icon) as your conversion action.

And then you just select a page which a visitor will see after a conversion (for example a Thank you page after they subscribe, or an Order receipt page after they make a purchase, or a One-Time-Offer (OTO) after they but the front-end offer etc.).

You click Create and you’re done, your first experiment is ready to start receiving traffic.

You just need to click on Start to activate the experiment (option shown when you hover over your experiment name in the Experiments list page).

Nelio A/B Split Test Experiment Results

This is my favorite feature of Nelio A/B Testing plugin, their experiment results page. All statistics are presented in a beautiful way with clearly shown results.

You can see exactly how your original/control page performed against alternatives and which page had the best conversion rate.

With these kinds of statistics it’s so simple to do A/B tests and choose a winner.

If you need even more info you can click on Alternatives tab at the top of experiments results which will automatically show you the winner landing page. Heck, you can even see heat maps for each landing page, how cool is that? 🙂

By clicking on Apply button you can automatically overwrite your original page with the winning alternative page if you want, but be careful with this option because after it’s done you can’t bring it back.

It's a simple yet perfect coming soon page with a nice rocket image and cool green colored background covered with shiny stars.

Call to action button is presented in yellow color for high contrast so that the visitors have zero chance of missing it.

If you have or plan to create an online course or some kind of membership, just look how beautiful this lesson page is.

You have the main video lesson at the top, along with the lesson title, and below the video you can put your lesson description.

The best part comes in the sidebar, where you can share the most important details about that lesson, and help your members to easily visit previous/next lesson.

Don't forget about downloadable files either, most people like to save things on their computer or access lessons in more than just one format.

HIGHLIGHT Home Page

It's called HIGHLIGHT for a reason, because it highlight YOU in the best ways possible.

I'll be honest with you, I'm in love with this template. The combination of white clouds with black / blue / white colors is out of this world.

The top of the template is reserved for the main headlines, and there's even enough space for a nice description, before they sign up to your email list. Don't forget to use some awesome image to present your freebie even better.

This template is blue in original (together with white and black), but you can easily change the color and it will still look great. Even with red, orange or green.

There are two call to actions (two opt-in forms), one at the top and other on the bottom. In between there's a nice 'feature' area which you can use to tell your visitors more about your freebie and explain them what exactly will they learn/get after they subscribe.

WEEKLY Opt-in Page

Do you have a weekly newsletter where you would like to teach your subscribers something very useful? Than this template is built just for you.

It doesn't have to be weekly, every day, newsletter, it can be any kind of length email course (3 days, 7 days, 14 days, 30 days and similar) where your email autoresponder sends emails daily, weekly, bi-weekly or any time you set it up.

Whatever your agenda is, this template will come in handy. It's a beautiful light-blue and white template, with nice animated email icon at the top (see the demo). At the second half of the page you can give your users more details about each step of your newsletter and motivate them to subscribe.

The header background image really helps to show your main headline in a nice contrast, making it effective from the moment your visitors lay eyes on your landing page.

There's enough space for one amazing image of your choice, and a lot of text where you can share more details about your freebie or upcoming webinar.

The green call to action button in the right sidebar is highly visible, and will make your conversion rate higher than ever before.

NATURE Opt-in Page

Made for life coaches and spiritual healers in mind, this green landing page will bring all sort of positive feelings when they see it. Just look at this beautiful green forest, and that strong orange call to action button, I don't know who could resist it and not subscribe right away.

It's kinda a short with not much space for text explanations of image, but feel free to edit it to your needs. If you do it right you may be able to squeeze some more text or even an image and still preserve this amazing nature look and feel.

iFIT Sales Page

Fitness, weight loss, building muscle, it's a huge industry making billions of dollars each year. If you are in it, you will for sure agree with me. And now, there's finally a nice template you can use to sell your fitness related product or service.

This fitness landing page template is ideal for selling workout programs, nutrition recipes and all that highly popular weight loss related products.

APPWORLD Sales Page

This is a nice sales page for all of you who have some kind of mobile app, or any kind of app whatsoever, or if you are selling info products related to apps, or recommending affiliate products, the possibilities are endless.

It has number counters at the top, beautifully designed header, 6 features fields with icons, a testimonial section, and call to action buttons at the top and bottom of the page.

You can use this page for a lot of things, just use your imagination.

BRICKS Sales Page

Who would think that bricks would be so good as a background? Well they are, especially when there's also a woman looking at her laptop right at the place where your main title and subtitles are. Neat, right?

Besides nice background header image, there's a lot of space for features and details of your product/service, plus an opt-in form and pricing details in 3 columns. Don't forget about the perfect testimonial area in the middle of the page and a video presentation area.

This is one powerful template, take the advantage and use it.

CUTE Confirm Email Landing Page

If I would need an email confirmation landing page I would certainly use this one.

It's perfectly designed, colors looks so good together, and there's also a social share part motivating your new subscribers to bring their friends and followers to your opt-in page.

The main part of this landing page is explaining your subscribers what to do next if you are using double optin subscription, and that is - email confirmation.

Just take a look at the demo page and this nice mail image on the right side and you'll instantly fall in love with it.

LUCKY BLUE Confirmation Landing Page

You must take a look at the demo of this landing page to see it's true nature. This blue email image is actually animated and it looks amazing, catching your new subscriber's attention.

Beneath it you'll find short and direct instructions on what to do next (confirm email), and at the bottom a nice share section to motivate your subscribers to share it on different social networks.

POPULAR Webinar Opt-in Landing Page

If you plan to do webinars, just use this template - period.

It's mostly white with hints of red here and there, where the main hing is the red call to action button, bringing the most attention to your visitors.

We have 3 columns here, the first one is reserved for webinar hosts, the middle one for webinar details, and the last one for countdown to webinar and opt-in / webinar registration form.

At the top there's of course the main headline and sub-headline which has a purpose to intrigue your visitors and make them read more, ultimately to subscribe and attend your webinar.

These are just 14 template out of 100 we have in the offer at this moment. Although these 14 are my personal favorites that doesn't mean other templates are bad or ugly, they are just as beautiful and high-converting as these ones.

ORIGINAL IDEA – THRIVE MARKETPLACE

The idea about building a marketplace for Thrive Content Builder landing page templates was born about a year ago. I (Drazen Prastalo) was a big fan of Thrive Content Builder at the time, but wasn’t too happy about their templates. That made me build my own most of the time, which wasn’t that hard since their landing page builder is really easy to use.

Still, seeing other Thrive competitors, they had the similar problem, but they’ve managed to solve it by opening a landing page marketplace where their own users are able to submit own template designs and make money selling it.

That way they were increasing the value for new users, plus giving designers a chance to make some money.

*Note: Thrive Themes plan to have their own marketplace in the future, however no official statements or dates of the launch have been confirmed yet. Another thing, The Landing Factory will also open its doors to other Thrive users to submit their designs and sell templates, but more on that when the time comes.

So, the idea was here, but there was a lack of motivation, time and resources at that time. It was just a huge project for one person and I didn’t have enough courage to pursue the idea and make it real. At least not on my own…

I even mentioned it to Shane (one of Thrive Themes co-founders) in one of our Skype talks in 2015, to see if they would be ok with it, and he said no problem. That was comforting, and one of the reasons why I never gave up on the idea itself.

Now, fast forward to 2016 and to making first steps towards realization of this idea.

THRIVE TEMPLATES – FIRST STEP & VALIDATION

I don’t remember what was the actual trigger that made me start working on this idea for real, but in March 2016 I decided to go with it, and the first step was finding a business partner who would share the workload with me and speed things up.

That didn’t work out as I expected in the end, which you’ll find out why below…

So in the middle of March 2016 I decided to contact Faisal Farooqui. He’s a man from USA, whom I didn’t know at the time, but I remembered him from some Facebook groups where we were both members in.

Since he commented on a lot of posts related to Thrive Content Builder, just as I was, I figured, he’s a good match, and might be interested in working with me.

After our first Facebook chat and Skype talk he was really interested in the idea and we decided to start working on it together.

Our first step was to validate the idea itself and to see if there’s even people out there who were willing to pay for it.

That’s how Thrive Templates was born.

Thrive Templates (thrivetemplates.com) was the first name of this project, which was later changed to The Landing Factory. We thought that Thrive Templates was a good name, since it describes exactly what the website is all about.

However, Thrive Themes were not too happy about it, since it was really similar to their business name, and they were afraid people would mix our two websites.

At first I didn’t agree with them, but after one lady asked what’s the difference between two of our businesses, I realized that it really is too similar and that it could bring us both some problems in the future. Hence the name change.

Back to Thrive Templates…

We were performing under Thrive Templates name the whole validation period and decided not to change it until we see if we would even validate this idea or not.

The idea for validation was to give 3 templates for free and after they sign up to get the templates, redirect them to a video sales page explaining them our intentions and offering people a special prelaunch price ($97 yearly membership or $197 lifetime membership).

We wanted to get at least 5 sales to consider it validated.

I wrote the video script and Faisal recorded it since he was a native speaker and sounded a lot better than me on the camera.

We didn’t have any professional video recording equipment, if I remember correctly everything was recorded with a smartphone (or some regular compact digital camera) with a DIY teleprompter (shown on picture below).

Most of our promotion were done in Facebook groups. In some we got great response, on other not so great.

All in all we made 2 lifetime membership sales and over 100 subscribers in the first 24 hours. We were thrilled with the results 🙂

The first sales came in 4:00 AM, we were awake of course, working, contacting people, I think I jumped from the chair from excitement 🙂

Unfortunately that was the peak of our success for the first two weeks, just two sales.

We almost refunded those first 2 buyers but that’s when our email autoresponder sequence kicked in and we got 3 more lifetime sales in the third week (when the prelaunch period was officially closed) and got 250 subscribers in total.

Interesting to mention is that no one bought yearly membership which was just $97, instead they all bought the lifetime membership, which was $197.

Still, not the best outcome, but from the comments we got, and from few other people who were really interested in this but wouldn’t want to invest without seeing the templates first, we decided to go with it and build this marketplace website together with 100 landing page templates.

Unfortunately that’s when some other problems occurred…

THE LANDING FACTORY – REALIZATION

We promised our first customers that the templates will be ready by the end of May 2016, about a month and a half from the date we started validating the idea, and about a month since the finish of validation and decision to make it real.

It was still a huge project for just two guys to pull through. I calculated that each of us would need to invest about 2-3 hours per day to finish it on time.

Sadly, Faisal just couldn’t squeeze in those 2-3 hours per day to due to other personal and business obligations with his other projects. So we decided to part ways and I was left to continue on my own or refund the money to the buyers.

Since most of the money was already invested in all the things needed to create this website and build templates, quitting would mean a significant money loss for me personally, but also a feeling of failure, which I didn’t want to accept.

So I decided to take the bait and go with it alone. There wasn’t time to find another partner or even outsource it, not the way I would wanted it to, and here we are.

Next 4 weeks I worked almost all day and night designing templates and planning the websites, trying to make it on time.

Obviously I was 2 weeks late, although templates were ready by 10th of June, I still needed some time to make the actual website and connect all the dots.

A huge thanks to all our buyers for waiting a bit longer and for understanding.

Today, almost everything is finished, not 100% of course, but I’ll be improving the website constantly.

There’s a saying, if you launch 100% ready you launched too late, and I agree. Sometimes you just need to go and launch without making everything perfect.

THE LANDING FACTORY NOW & IN THE FUTURE

And today The Landing Factory is live and well.

At the moment of writing this article there are 8 landing page template categories all together:

There’s a question some of you might ask, and I know because I asked the same question myself – why aren’t there complete landing page template funnels?

In other words, why aren’t there landing pages of same design containing opt-in page, sales page, webinar page and thank you page, for example?

Well, honestly, I am fully aware of funnel importance, but to make complete funnels would mean that there would be just about 20-30 different landing page designs, instead of 100 different landing page designs we have now.

Still, like I said, I am aware of the importance of having a complete funnel, that’s why we will build additional landing page templates to complete the funnels, but only for certain designs.

On which ones – that is what you will decide.

There will be soon implemented a voting mechanism on each template details page where you will be able to vote if you would want us to make additional landing pages in the same design style to complete the funnels.

Bases on your votes we’ll complete the funnel for certain templates, once or twice monthly.

What about new templates?

100 templates is just a start, we will add 20 new templates each month, meaning, next year this time there will be over 200 templates available.

Now that membership sounds even better, right? 🙂

And that’s just from us, when we open the marketplace for other designers, that could mean 30, 40 or more new templates added each month. And that’s the idea, becoming the largest landing page marketplace in the world.

We are also well aware that some of you are web designers, bloggers and business owners with clients. That’s one of the reason why we offer agency licenses if you would like to use our templates for your client’s websites, but that’s also a reason why we’ll eventually open an affiliate program for you to make money while recommending us to your clients and readers.

As you can see there’s a lot exciting new things coming from us in the future, but for now enjoy in the templates we offer right now and start bringing more sales and leads for your business.
